ROOFING CRAFT EDUCATIONAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG

Early in February 2009, the National Roofing Union, jointly with the A.G. Nebolsin Nevsky Polytechnic Lyceum, opened a new class of The Roofing Craft Educational Center in St. Petersburg

The Educational Center is facing extremely serious and very urgent tasks at the moment: reducing the personnel shortage in the roofing industry, improving the skills of the specialists working in the industry, retraining workers who have been made redundant, creating training facilities for the specialist certification system, introducing unified standards of roofer training.

The training class that has been opened in St. Petersburg will provide training for workers who have no knowledge in the roofing field, and retraining of roofers in steel roofing. Seminars on roofing technologies and on new materials of the roofing market will be held here. Advanced training of the middle and engineering tiers of roofing companies, as well as retraining and further training of teachers of civil engineering educational institutions is provided for within the framework of the Center's educational programs.

The extensive methodological materials accumulated by the teaching staff and the immense practical experience of the members of the National Roofing Union have made it possible to establish a unique educational institution, which has no analogs in this country.

At least 240 professionally educated roofers will graduate from the Educational Center annually.

Two big Western companies, roofing zinc producers RheinZink and copper manufacturers concern Luvata, are the investors of the project.
